Our family have been at West Farm since 1880. The holding comprises of three farms: in Besselsleigh, Appleton and Eaton, totalling approximately 1000 acres. We are a working farm - mostly arable with a small suckler herd of pedigree Aberdeen Angus. Two Hundred and fifty acres of the farm are managed woodlands.
The CL is in part of a paddock adjacent to the farmhouse in Eaton. The rest of the paddock usually has some of our son’s hobby herd of Oxford Down sheep and occasionally some of the farm’s herd of pedigree Aberdeen Angus cows and calves. We are often visited by the local wildlife including Red Kites, deer and hares.
There is a bridleway running to one side of the CL which continues for over a mile towards Appleton. Another lovely walk is along the quiet road through the village; this continues down a gentle hill for 2 miles to terminate at the Thames. There are many other pleasant walks in the area.
